Needles & Moxa

Acupunture Needles

The size of the needles is 0.14mm in width. Craftsmen put the final touches on every single needle by hand to make them painless.

Disposable needles will be available on request.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is the therapeutic practice of burning moxa, tinder made from the dried leaves of "YOMOGI" mugwort leaves on or near the skin. It is 100% natural and safe. The combination of acupuncture and Moxibustion makes the treatment even more comfortable.

Chinetsu-kyu

Chinetsu-kyu (Heat Perception Moxibustion)

A cone of moxa will be placed directly on the skin. The cone is lit and burns down about two thirds, until the patient feels a pleasant warmth and then more heat. At this time the cone swiftly removed. This leaves gentle warmth.

Kampo-kyu

Kampo-kyu (Stick Moxibustion)

A rolled stick of moxa is used to warm the skin. When the patient feels heat after pleasant warmth, it is moved away from the skin.

Chokusetsu-kyu

Chokusetsu-kyu (Penetrating Moxibustion)

A small rice grain size moxa is burned directly on the selected points on the skin. A sharp pinprick of heat will be perceived for a second and leaves a small scar, which goes completely in a week. Consultation will be made before this treatment is used.

Ondan-kyu

Ondan-kyu (Basket Moxibution)

A charcoal in a miniature basket is placed on the handle of an inserted acupuncture needle. It provides reasonable mild heat into the body and also on the skin.

Kyutoshin

Kyutoshin (Moxa Head Needling)

A ball of moxa is placed on the handle of an inserted acupuncture needle and lit. The penetration of the heat into the body helps to relax the whole body.

Kamaya-kyu

Kamaya-kyu (Platform Moxibustion)

It is the mounting of moxa above the skin to leave a small air pocket between the burring moxa and the skin. Strong heat will be felt, however because of the air pocket, it won't burn the skin. This is often applied on stiff areas on the shoulders or back.
